Mothers of daughters ages 13 - 17

As I coach mothers navigating turbulence with adult daughters (I too am that mother), one truth that is very clear. Many fractures with mothers and adult daughters begin in the teenage years.

A few months ago, a mother reached out to me who was struggling with her teenage daughter. At the time, Mothers Conquering Together Prayer Circle community was specifically for mothers navigating turbulent relationships with adult daughters only, so I was not able to support her in the way she needed. That moment has stayed with me daily and I have prayed for her and her daughter because I yearned to help her! Because of that encounter, I have begun softly opening space to support mothers of daughters more broadly.

That encounter is also one of several reasons I also decided to open a small space for teen girls. I am opening a group “Truth Over Lies” (TOL). This is for teen girls ages 13-17. We are starting a 14 week biblical identity study using the book “Lies Girls Believe & The Truth That Sets Them Free.” - We will have a couple breaks in between weeks.

I have seen how deeply the lies young girls believe can impact relationships later in life. As a mother, I know the importance of speaking biblical truth into our daughter’s lives. Yet I also know that outside influences and peer voices can sometimes become louder than the truth they are being taught at home and in the Word. And being honest, sometimes this age group negative influence or hurt can come from within their own home. That is why environments where girls can hear truth consistently, alongside peers who are also learning to anchor their identity in Christ, can be so powerful during the teenage years.

Beginning Tuesday, March 24th at 6 PM - 7 PM EST, we will gather weekly to confront cultural and internal lies about identity, worth, relationships, and God’s character, replacing them with scriptural truth. 

One of the teens will serve as a co-leader so the girls have someone close to their age who can relate to where they are while we connect the study to scripture and their real life experiences.

There is no cost. Just weekly commitment and parental consent are required. To maintain meaningful discussions and allow each one of them an opportunity to participate, the group will be intentionally kept small, with space for up to 15 participants.

This is not a one and done but it's a start to help our young people find and love themselves early on. It's unfortunate but unfortunately many times our teens don't hear us. They listen to the approval of their peers and the lies planted inside them by others, that has taken root.
